Zarakon Beach
On the Aegean Sea, the beautiful sandy beach of Zarakon is approached through rolling countryside and a wooded valley just ten minutes drive from the village of Zarakes. Recently upgraded, with EU funds, a breakwater and a tiny harbour have been built and a few umbrellas, covered in local bamboo fronds, are dotted along the edge of the brilliant blue waters. Zarakon bay is still very much a local family beach and is never overcrowded. There are two traditional fish tavernas on the sea front and a beach bar serving cold drinks, kebabs, ouzo and the local firewater "tzipero". It really is a perfect family 'get away from it all' holiday home destination.
