Location
Aghii Apostoli
Aghii Apostoli is a picturesque fishing port in the Bay of Petries on the Aegean Sea. The fishmongers' vans, which visit the local villages, pick up the daily catch from here. In the last few years the village has become increasingly popular with discerning Athenian and International visitors and investors. In addition to the recently enlarged and improved harbour, there is a safe, sandy beach, fringed by small hotels, cafes, bars and tavernas, plus a bakery and a supermarket. The surrounding mountains offer glorious views over the Aegean Sea to the island of Skyros. The sea is very clean and there are several superb sandy coves nearby, including some with fish tavernas, such as Klimaki, Liani Ammos, Stomio and Heromilos.
There are numerous unmade and surfaced roads along the coast and there are plans improve and extend them, to create a coastal route all the way to Kimi. A by-pass is also being constructed around the old mountain village of Petries, which will improve access to all of the beaches around Aghii Apostoli. A daily bus service runs to Aliveri, with connections to Athens. Because of its accessibility to the ferry port of Eretria, this area is ?up & coming?, as can be seen by the sophisticated and glamorous villas which have already been built in the scenic mountain slopes above the village.
