Styra Village
Just a 6 minute drive from the ferry port at Nea Styra, the village of Styra is situated in the mountains, on the main road to Karistos, the most southerly town on Evia. Built around a very attractive village square, overlooked by the village church, Styra has a good range of facilities. In the centre of the village there's a friendly bar/café, chemist, supermarket, petrol station, bakers, butchers and two tavernas. Nearby there's a restaurant and supermarket, a greengrocers, cashpoint, police station, town hall and clinic.
Because of its proximity to the ferry Styra is already 'up and coming' and many of the houses have been restored and renovated to a high standard. With its superb views down to the coast and across the valley to the surrounding mountains Styra attracts many Athenians for weekend trips and retirement. The most well kept and sophisticated village in the area, Styra will only continue to improve, as the mayor is very dynamic and environmentally aware.
A new road is currently being constructed which will bypass the centre of the village, whilst making it more accessible from the port and to Karistos, the administrative centre of this part of Evia.
